Get the boot!
This is an idiom related to work which means to lose your job. There are two other expressions similar to this one which are to get fired and to be made redundant. In both cases it means you lose your job but in the first one the reason is a mistake you've made whereas in the second one the reason is you are not needed anymore because the amount of work has gone down.
